Matt Maiocco, NBCSports: "Will you name a Week 1 starter now?"
Kyle Shanahan: "No, we’re not making that announcement."
MM: "When will you name a Week 1 starter?"
KS: "Whenever I feel like it. Not tonight."

Welcome back Parrottheads!

Another season, another chance to compete for The Parrott Cup!

Pour one out for Nick Butler who was the first to suffer a significant casualty to the injury gods with his FLEX, Gus Edwards reportedly going down with an ACL tear today.

The LM Note is going to take a new format this year, which will take a much smaller chunk of time out of my life to accomplish but hopefully provide the same amount of content.

Every week (for now) will still include game review GIFs, weekly trophies, a Game of the Week preview, and power rankings. However, most of the discussion and banter will now take place in the form of a podcast.

This will be a weekly podcast, put out with the LM Note and distributed on every major podcast hosting platform. You’ll be able to listen to it wherever you listen now: Spotify, Apple Podcasts… whatever.

For the most part, I will be solo or with Co Commissioner Pat Butler (who has volunteered to be involved pretty often) and we will casually discuss the league, your teams, matchups past and future, transactions, whatever.

The beauty in being a podcast is that anyone else can get involved very easily as well. We can “interview” owners before a big matchup, “check-in” with coaches, whatever. All the recording takes place in discord, so if you want to make an appearance on the pod, just shoot me a text and we’ll make it happen.

This also opens the door to potential audio trash talk to the league if you ever want to get creative and send a message to your opponent/the league in general. You can always shoot me a voicemail or voice memo and I’ll make sure to include it in the upcoming pod. The podcast can always use “sponsors” so feel free to use fake live reads as a way to take shots at people too.

The podcast will be uploaded weekly, if you want to have it whenever it's published you just need to subscribe wherever it is you listen. The podcast was just uploaded today so it may take some time (up to 2 weeks on certain platforms) to appear in any of these places besides Spreaker, where it is hosted.

The podcast can already be found on Spotify here:

It is also hosted on Spreaker and can be heard here:

It will be added to Apple Music, Google Podcasts, and iHeart Media shortly

Hope you enjoy the wonderful sounds of PBut and I rambling about fantasy for an hour. That being said, it will be much shorter in future weeks when we don’t touch on EVERY roster.

We’ve got Kickoff Thursday tonight in the NFL between the Buccaneers and Cowboys. Myself, Nick B, Brian, Lockett, and Leon all have significant players in action.

Without further ado, for the first time in 2021

Power Rankings

This section is pretty much just going to be a graphic from now on, the breakdown of these stats is in the podcast. You’ll see, in order: JPFL Power Rankings (substituted for FantasyPro’s draft grades this week), FantasyPros’ Projected Standings, ESPN’s Power Ratings, and FantasyPro’s Weekly Power Ratings

Draft Grades:

FantasyPros Projected Standings:

FantasyPros Week 1 Roster Ratings:

Game of the Week

As is JPFL tradition, week one features a Game of the Week championship rematch, this time between Lockett and McAvoy.

The Fellas are powered by the league’s top-ranked receiving corps, featuring 3 players inside of last year’s top 20 as well as WR1 Devante Adams. Meanwhile, the Rocket boasts perhaps the best “engine” in the league with the best backfield and second-best group of pass-catchers in the JPFL, according to FanPros.

Lockett is one of 3 teams drawing a perfect 100 (normalized) FanPros roster rating for the week in the league (Jacob and Thomas the others). He is projected to see top 2 output at the RB, WR, and D/ST position, with the expected weakness of his team coming at QB and FLEX with Ryan Tannehill and Roby Anderson respectively.

On the Fellas side of things, Brian is drawing a weekly rating of 92, the second-lowest in the JPFL. While his WRs are projected to be the top-scoring bunch in the league this week, the Fellas are projected to be 9th at QB, limiting Pat’s potential disadvantage at the position.

Will it be a clean liftoff for the Lockett Rocket, or are the Fellas headed to Hooters for a post-game celebration?

This game is being played in primetime on NBC as the Lockett raises a long-awaited JPFL Championship banner.

Alright, that does it for our first LM Note of the 2021 season! Check out the pod, subscribe so you get it whenever a new episode is uploaded.

We’re just a few hours from kickoff. Good luck to everyone, may the nuggets be in your favor!
